Glass Beadmaking Basics and Beyond 

Level 1 – Beginning Beadmaking I

●  Basic Studio Safety

2 Evening Classes 6:30-9:30 pm or Saturday 10 am-5 pm

Class fee:  $150.  Includes all basic materials. 

  

Level 2 – Beginning Beadmaking II

●  Encasing

●  Other bead shapes (discs, tubes, cones, bicones)

●  Sculpted Bead Shapes

●  Color Reactions

●  Enamels, frits, silver leaf, & other embellishment

●  Safety, Tools & Studio Set-up

Level 3 – Beyond the Basics

●  Review & Troubleshooting the basics

●  Beginning off-mandrel techniques

●  Hollow beads

●  Pressed beads

●  Making Twisties

Class fee: $150.  Includes all basic materials.

Level 4 – Intermediate Beadmaking I

Fire and Felt for Jewelry

Take this weekend class to learn basic glass beadmaking skills to make round beads, sculpted beads, and buttons for jewelry.  On the second day, learn basic hand felting techniques (needle and wet felting) to complement the beads you made at the torch and create your own unique, finished pieces of jewelry!

Saturday & Sunday, 10 – 4 pm

Class fee: $200. Includes all materials.

  

Beginning Beadmaking for Teens* – Level 1

Learn basic glass beadmaking techniques from a working artist. Heather will thoroughly address flameworking safety and teach you how to create round basic bead shapes & sculpted beads, and how to embellish them in her fun and funky style. 

Evenings, 6:30 – 9:30 pm 

Class Fee: $25 per class. Materials included

* Please note you must be at least 13 years of age and have parental consent to register for this class.


Heather Leyh Designs provides basic materials, tools and equipment for each of the classes above.  Materials include glass (primarily Morretti and Bullseye), oxygen/propane, torch (Nortel Minor, Nortel Mega Minor, Bethlehem Betts), mandrels, sculpting & forming tools, kiln and annealing, frit, silver leaf, enamels

  

Earring Party

A fun evening for yourself or a gathering with friends, or a tween/teen party.  Learn to create your own earrings using sterling silver wire, glass beads, and other unique beads and components. Learn the fundamentals of tool use, wire work, bead selection, and design techniques to make earrings that are uniquely you! This is a great class to get you started making your own jewelry. No experience necessary.

Class Fee: $25 + materials kit ($15 to $35)

Open Studio Evenings

Current and former students are invited to work on their own personal projects (and use Heather’s Tools) in her professional studio.

Class Fee: Flameworking bench time is available for $15 per hour or $120 for 10 hours.  Current Students receive a discounted fee of $10 per hour. (Students must purchase their own glass- small quantities available through Heather Leyh Designs)
